FAQs

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STAIR CLIMBERS WITH CRAWLER TRACKS OR WITH WHEELS?

There is a remarkable difference, since these are two completely different operating principles. Systems with wheels, also called “step by step”, require the operator to keep balancing the load at every step: this necessarily implies that the operator has to bear part of the weight.
Thanks to stair climbers with crawler tracks such as Domino and Skipper, instead, the operator no longer has to bear the weight of the load during transport on stairs.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DOMINO AND SKIPPER?

Domino is the most recent innovation, launched in 2014 after three years of investing in research and development, and it is the evolution of Skipper. Domino features more advanced technology and is very easy to use for any operator. Here is a summary of the main differences:

DOMINO
Available capacities: 400 kg – 300 kg – 160 kg

TURNING ON THE LANDING: thanks to Domino’s operating principle, the load is already ready for turning on the landing, therefore the operator is extremely facilitated in this operation. On the landing, the operator, using the joystick, can move the load forwards or backwards, left or right. This can be done since the crawler tracks are independent from one another.

SKIPPER
Available capacities: 350kg – 300 kg – 250kg

TURNING ON THE LANDING: on the whole flight of stairs, the load is transported “laid down”, therefore, as soon as the operator is on the landing, the load will have to be positioned vertically. When on the landing, the operator manually moves the load to the right and left using the wheels that are positioned beneath the crawler tracks. The crawler tracks are unidirectional and move forwards and backwards.

DO I NEED TO KEEP THE LOAD BALANCED?

No! If you choose the Domino or Skipper there is no need to keep the load balanced, since, thanks to the crawler tracks, the weight is on the stairs.

If you choose Buddy or Buddy Lift, as in the case of all stair climbers with “step by step” technology, you will have to keep the load balanced on the stairs. This is the reason why our company, as a manufacturer, has chosen to produce these stair climbers with a maximum capacity of 160 kg.

CAN I ALSO TRANSPORT GOODS ON A PALLET?

Of course! With all our stair climbers, you can also transport goods on pallets. Among other things, we produce customised bases to meet all requirements.

CAN I TURN AROUND ON VERY NARROW LANDINGS?

The DOMINO stair climbing trolley, in particular, thanks to its two independent crawler tracks, allows 360° rotation of the load, which allows for manoeuvres in very narrow spaces.

DO CRAWLER TRACKS RUIN STAIRS?

Absolutely NOT! All our crawler tracks are non-marking and non-staining. They do not ruin the stairs or damage the steps. The crawler tracks fitted on our trolleys are exclusive and feature the ZONZINI brand, which is synonymous with quality.

HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST?

The autonomy depends on the weight carried. Our trolleys are fitted with special batteries without memory effect.

Batteries do not leak out any liquids and can be easily recharged even without using up all the charge.

Moreover, the battery charger provided is fully automatic and switches itself off as soon as it reads the battery charge status, so there is absolutely no danger of overloading the batteries. Battery power is indicated by a LED light on the control unit.

CAN I LOAD AND UNLOAD THE GOODS FROM THE VAN DIRECTLY WITH YOUR TROLLEYS?

Yes, indeed! All our trolleys can be equipped with a simple aluminium ramp, which, if rested against your vehicle, allows you to load and unload the goods from the van directly with the trolley.

CAN I USE THEM ON ANY KIND OF STAIRS?

Yes! All our stair climbers can be used on any kind of stairs and shape, compatibly with the size of the load being carried.

Both Domino che Skipper are equipped with non-marking and non-slipping crawler tracks, and can be used on marble, wooden and glass stairs, parquet flooring etc. The Buddy Lift model is equipped with an electric lifting base that allows the load to be lifted to gain even more space on the stairs and to turn around also on very narrow landings.
